Evolution in Website Design

Very soon those days will be gone when people will avoid switching on their computers for any online search or online purchase.

The regular enhancement in mobile phones has increased their usability and ultimately their demand. Now they are no longer considered as the medium solely used for communication purpose. People dance, people see, people play and purchase too on phones. Its increasing penetration into day-to-day life of human beings has increased its importance. It is a “need” for many and “want” for few but very soon it will become a need for all.

Seeing its increasing connectivity with people, mobile phones are now used as an important marketing tool by many marketers. Ads, offers, schemes, sales and what not we all are getting on the phone. You can receive emails, compose new and send them, though it is not very common but the change has begun. The time is not very far when we will see people browsing whole website in the phone only.

People have even started designing and developing websites for mobile phones. The very contemporary example which we all can notice and might have used is the use of social networking sites such as Twitter and Orkut getting on mobile. There are other sites too which can be explored on hand phones. However they don’t look that nice on phones as good they look on PCs.

There are many intricacies such as web site resolution, screen size, lack of JavaScript support and many others which need to be resolved explicitly to give the users an incredible feeling. Web designers and developers are likely to get most of the obstacles during making the mobile websites.

Why mobile friendly web designs will be in fad in coming future can be guessed due to the increasing number of next generation mobile phone users. According to ITU(International Telecommunication Union), by the end of 2008, the number of mobile users would cross 4 billion users.

    I don’t think that websites will ever really be fully compatible with mobile phones due to the fact of size. But I must say that it would certainly make life a lot easier!

    Mobile phones will adapt to web designs faster than web designs adapt to mobile phones. Just look at the iPhone.

    Being certain about technology is impractical because you may not know what is happening at other part of the world while you are assuming ” impossibility of the website being mobile compatible”.

    And yes websites with mobile compatibility characteristics or vice versa can certainly make life a lot easier.

    This can be one scenario too. But till the time mobile companies do not make phones dedicated to “web designers” till then designers need to make mobile friendly websites.
